What Refinishers Say About Power-Sander Blocks

This page collects consistent themes from two decades of public feedback about the power-sander line by deck refinishers, furniture restorers and weekend painters - the audience the product was built for.

The Recurring Praise

• Latex paint stops being the enemy. The single most repeated report: latex and acrylic paints, which glaze ordinary sandpaper in seconds, simply turn to dust against glass foam. Refinishers describe stripping doors and dressers that had defeated multiple sanding-sponge attempts.
• Block life is the economy. Users routinely report one quarter-sheet block outlasting a package of sandpaper - matching the manufacturer's "equals 21 quarter-sheets on latex" benchmark closely enough that reviewers cite it approvingly.
• Nail heads don't end the job. On reclaimed lumber and old decking, paper tears on the first proud fastener. The block shrugs and keeps cutting - a small thing that transforms salvage work.
• Rust work without wire wheels. The rusted-metal blocks earn specific praise from users restoring railings and outdoor furniture: scale comes off without the spark shower and snagging of a wire cup brush.

The Honest Caveats

• It cuts fast - respect it. First-timers used to worn paper occasionally dish soft wood before recalibrating. The fix is in the technique: flat contact, constant motion, no added pressure.
• Coarse means coarse. The stripping blocks leave a surface for primer, not stain. Finish-grade work needs the fine block or a final paper pass.
• Dust still happens. Less than paper, but stripping a deck makes dust by any method. Masks and ventilation appear in nearly every thorough review.

Our Editorial Note

These are synthesized themes from public user feedback, reported to set honest expectations - not endorsements of any current brand or seller. Match them against the technique guide and the product overview and you will know exactly what to expect from the first pass.
